Beginning Director’s Intensive @ Office of Grayce Gusmano at PCS

This 29-hour specialty workshop provides the opportunity for 8 beginning psychodrama directors to do as much or as little of the following as they feel comfortable: direct a full psychodrama session, including warm-up, action, and sharing, and get feedback from the trainers as well as from their peer participants. If you do not care to direct, a trainer can direct for you, or you can tag-team direct with the support of the trainer. Additionally, each participant will get to serve as protagonist in one of these peer-directed dramas.

You must be a licensed mental health professional and have attended at least one previous API workshop OR  have a minimum of 20 hours of psychodrama training to register for this workshop.. Each attendee is to attend each session unless arranged in advance to miss.

Introduction – 4-7pm Thursday, June 6th
Session One – 8:30a-11:30a Friday, June 7th
Session Two – 12.15p-3.15p Friday, June 7th
Session Three – 4p-7p, Friday, June 7th
Session Four – 8:30a-11:30a Saturday, June 8th

Instructors will direct a number of short and complete psychodramas, offering the opportunity to do personal work to a number of the participants. The opportunity exists for a number of other participants to do longer, complete psychodramas, potentially directed by advanced students with assistance from instructors.

Every effort will be made to allow those who want to do personal work to have an opportunity to be a protagonist in at least some short experiences. We are not able to guarantee that each participant will get to be a protagonist in a full psychodrama nor that each interested director will get to direct a full psychodrama, although every effort will be made to best meet the needs of the participants.

Twenty-Eight hours of training by a P.A.T. (Practitioner Applicant for Trainer) will be provided. Psychodrama students may receive up to 160 of their training hours from a P.A.T. Marlo Archer is an approved provider for NAADAC & NBCC.

PREREQUISITES (Must have Two)
1) Minimum of 24 hours’ Psychodrama training
2) A degree in a Behavioral Health Field
3) Attendance at previous API workshop
